Steve  Lewandowski

Executive Director

Steve grew up in Tulsa, OK, where he was heavily involved in his youth group at the First United Methodist Church.  It was at a summer camp that Steve dedicated his life to the service of Christ. He graduated from Tulsa Edison High School and received both his BS and MS degrees from Oklahoma State University in Administration and Management of Recreation. He brings a great deal of experience in program development, fund raising, and public speaking.

Steve is married to Elaine, his wife of 24 years. They have two sons, Joey and A.P., and two Spunky Jack Russell Terriers, named Jaqi and Max, who help greet their friends and family whenever they come to visit. Steve loves to hunt, fish, watch high school football, and spend time at the beach with his family.

Joining us in the Fall of 2014, he is excited to be the Executive Director of Blue Lake United Methodist Assembly and looks forward to many years of service to the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Jessie Spangler

Program Director

Jessie is from Oviedo, FL where she spent most of her time either with the youth group at the First United Methodist Church or in the Fine Arts department at Oviedo High School, but her summers at camp where what she always looked forward to. Camp was where she committed her life to Christ, as well as discovered her calling and career path. She went on to Florida State University for her B.S. in Recreation, Tourism and Events and spent much of her time at the FSU Wesley Foundation. She since then has gained experience in multiple camp and outdoor recreation roles in both Tallahassee and Fort Lauderdale.

Jessie married her husband Jeremy in May of 2018. They have two Blue Heelers, Murphy and Hudson, who already love their new home at Blue Lake! Jessie loves spending time outdoors, hiking, biking, crafting, and on road trips!

She is beyond excited to be a part of the Blue Lake family! Jessie can’t wait to experience and grow the programs everyone knows and loves such as Winter Retreat and Summer Camp, but also bring new ideas and programs to the Blue Lake calendar!
