Summer Counselor

Our summer counselor positions are open to people who have finished at least one year of college and will work directly with campers throughout the summer.  All counselors must attend the staff training session. This training week will consist of training on First Aid / CPR / AED (mandatory), lifeguard, camp procedures, safe sanctuary practices, camp programing, and general situational awareness. Counselors will be in cabins throughout the summer assisting volunteers, and leading kids throughout their day during various activities.

Counselor In Training

Our brand new counselor in training program is for any young adult who has completed their junior or senior year in high school. This program gives you a taste of what life is like at camp “behind the curtain”. CIT’s will spend 4 weeks of summer, preferably concurrent, being an active staff member and participating in all duties while learning from their full counselor counterparts. CIT’s will not stay in cabins but will participate in all other duties.  CIT’s will also be required to attend the training session. This training week will consist of training on First Aid / CPR / AED (mandatory), lifeguard, camp procedures, safe sanctuary practices, camp programming, and general situational awareness. We will be flexible with school / graduation schedules.

Hourly lifeguards

This position is for local area applicants who are only looking for an hourly job. You must either have a lifeguard / first aid, CPR, AED training or be able to come to our training week just before summer. This position is paid hourly, and no housing is furnished.  Hourly lifeguards should have a strong work ethic, be dependable and willing to work long hours. Although this position doesn’t interact with kids for the amount of time as others, the waterfront is still a vital hub at Blue Lake so applicants should be ready, willing, and excited to work around kids all day long.

Camp Healthcare Provider

This position is ideally open to any nursing student or medically licensed professional but anyone with at least first aid and CPR certification may apply as well. The job of Camp Healthcare Provider will be a tough but very rewarding one. The main duties will be to coordinate with any volunteer nurses, management of medicine dispensing, and documentation of any injuries and first aid given. This job is a demanding job that will often require late nights and early mornings. Pay will reflect the expectations of this job.

Aquatics Director

This position is open to any responsible person who has previous lifeguarding experience and is certified in lifeguarding and first aid, CPR, or is willing to be certified in those areas. This position requires time management skills as well as risk management awareness. Daily tasks will include overseeing and scheduling all Blue Lake lifeguards, enforcing all current blue lake waterfront rules and policies, managing waterfront equipment, working with deans and user groups to schedule, lifeguarding when needed as well as being flexible to sudden changes in plans.

Media Coordinator

This position is open to any responsible young adult who has experience in photography, videography, marketing or communications. This positions purpose is to manage Blue Lake’s social media presence.  The daily tasks will include photographing daily life at camp, daily upload of photos, interviewing campers or volunteers about their experiences at camp, social media posts about the day’s happenings, as well as a general willingness to help out in other areas when needed.  This position includes room and board

Available Positions

Summer staff are hired as part of the Blue Lake staff team because they enjoy working with children of all ages and are also motivated  to make each camper's stay one that is full of learning opportunities, safe, fun, and memorable!  All summer staff are required to attend our 10 day training course at the beginning of the summer. This training will include things like First Aid/ CPR, Life guarding, Safe Sanctuary and ACA practices, as well as a host of other situational experiences.
