Open to campers who have completed grades
3 - 5 (elementary) and 6 - 12 (youth)
The Worship Arts camps have become a staple here at Blue Lake over the past 42 years! These camps are our longest running camps at Blue Lake and have become some of our favorites! Each camp is set up to give campers age appropriate opportunities to learn and hone musical gifts from some of the most talented educators in our conference! Beyond our main focus of chorale singing, campers will have the opportunity to participate in various classes like, hand bells, arts & crafts, drama, dance, band, guitar, etc. All campers will have the opportunity to participate in some of our traditional camp activities and events as well. At the end of the week our camps come together to perform a concert for parent and guests on checkout day.
Youth Worship Arts Clinician Bio
James Robbins III
James currently serves as the Director of the Music and Worship Ministries at Mary Esther United Methodist Church, Mary Esther, FL.
He began his musical journey as a 12 year old spending summers in the country with his aunt. She was the actual piano student while he sat by her side being cooled by a miniature fan on top of an old piano. He later continued at his family church playing hymns for Church School and soon thereafter filling in for the Sunday service musician when needed. His love for God and music began to meld once he began to feel the power and presence of God in private settings. It was then that God challenged him to invite others into what they shared and his full- time ministry was birthed. Twenty years of music ministry including serving as the state music director for the African Methodist Episcopal Church which required that he be comfortable in all genres of church music whether hymns, anthems, spirituals, traditional or contemporary.
He holds a B.S. in Theology from Truth Bible College and Seminary and has extensive studies in marketing and business organizational management from Edward Waters College. He enjoys collaborating with others and often sees himself merely as "a cook in a kitchen preparing a meal for the table" in rehearsals! He is convinced that "where there is unity, there is strength!" Come join us as strong minds and passionate hearts connect and unite in worship!
